Chronicles of the Undeath Order

Born after the disarray of the Anarquist Revolt, which led to the relentless fires of the Inquisition, the most important organization of the Kindred is known as the Undeath Order, and its members pretend to preserve the Masquerade as top priority. In front, the Camarilla of Nod tries to steal the night from them...while the Unaffiliated clans watch from the sidelines

The structure of the Undeath Order

This organization has the leadership of the Lasombra and they tolerate no open dissent. Those Lasombra trust the collaboration of the Giovanni but the later are resenting that, if only a little. Meanwhile, the Ventrue wish to seize the Lasombra's ‘rights’ but the Lasombra know, and the Ventrue know the Lasombra know. The Assamite try to change everything, everytime (and the Lasombra are feed up with them). Apart from all this, the Gangrel live apart from the rest but are secretly spying everyone. With respect to the Tzimisce, practically no one understands what are they trying to do, but they are playing with everyone. To finish, the Ravnos are more or less ready to leave the organization but they are getting cold feet about that. Ah, yes, and there is also the Anarquist Movement, which makes a lot of fuss and think that a second Anarquist Revolt is around the corner, and the disowned Orphans whith no known sire, which are killed as soon as are discovered...and they are increasingly resentful because of that.

Since the first night, the Undeath Order is organized in a kinda religious way. Leading each city, there is the Pontifex, a Dean as their assistant. There is also a council of vampires called the Prelature, which membership and power varies locally. This hierarchy has more than one or two problems, and no changes are expected in the future. To allow vampires to socialize with each other, each city has a place or more named the Haven. Many cities also have a group called the Telltalers, which will verbally skin you off if you make any faux de pass and have a finger in every interesting pie; a kindred kown as the Keeper of the Haven, who works to guarantee that the Haven is a true safe place; and someone with the title of Sherriff which, with the help of a gang of guys called Bouncers, satisfies the whims of of the Pontifex and put every possible dissenter in line. Finally, the Undeath Order keeps a powerful team of vampires (one from each clan) called Justifiers. With the assitance of their personal Guards, they hunt those Kindred who ignore the Undeath Order Traditions and nearly openly lead the Undeath Order. Surprisingly, the Ravnos's Justifier seems to have went rogue, and their colleges are preparing a well thought-out and forceful response

The USA

In the USA, the Undeath Order is the sole ruler of the Plains area, being Austin the seat of the throne and also having a notable control of Dallas, Denver and Oklahoma City. The organization also extends its reach to the Southeast, if somewhat limited to Tampa, Memphis and Atlanta. Also, the organization considers the Northeast something uninteresting (although there are alarming news coming from Rochester); the Midwest is seen as something to forget but stills keep Indianapolis. Meanwhile, the Anarquist Movement call the Pacific West its home, with its main center of power Phoenix and Las Vegas.

The city of Austin is governed by a Lasombra Pontifex, that keeps things in proper order since they has a natural gift for leadership. The Prelature seems satisfied with this current situation and they are quite collaborative with the Pontifex when the situation requires it. Recently, a very young Orphans is said to be hidding somewhere in the city with a feral dog for only company and the Pontifex wants the situation resolved one way or another. Also, a well-known Elder from the Tzimisce has been retained for some time by a sobrenatural creature ...and who knows what they had told them?. Finally, one of the Pontifex's Chylde mistakenly revealed sensitive information to a Pontifex`s rival; the priority for now is to contain that leak.

Dallas is governed by a Ventrue Pontifex (who has to be always vigilant), and a Prelature, formed by Elders from all the clans. The Dean has been put in charge by the Prelature, but secretly supports the Pontifex. This situation, nowadays, seems to be resolving in favor of the Pontifex, and the Prelature doesn't want any of it. A short time ago, there a rumors about 'a lone hunter who uses massive amounts of fire' and at least one pile of vampiric ashes has been found since then. Also, the cities's Keeper of the Haven has been robbed of something valuable by a group of local neonates and the victim is looking for allies to carry out their vengance. Finally, the number of Orphans in the city is increasing as if someone is creating them on purpose, and the Pontifex remains strangely silent for now.

Tampa is led by a Gangrel Pontifex (who is something of a 'first among equals'), and a Prelature, formed by Elders from a selected number of clans. The Dean has been selected by the Pontifex, but secretly supports the Prelature. The power balance seems stable and it doesn't seem like it's going to change in the future. A short time ago, a series of artworks have been stealed from an old church, and there are rumors about 'an imminent auction in a secret place'. Also, the Pontifex is organizing a reception at the Haven; attendance will NOT be optional. Finally, an unaffiliated (but very famous) local fashion celebrity has been trashed by (allegedly) a clan Tzimisce's Elder and the victim has offered a reward for the head of the culprit party.

Memphis is governed by a Lasombra Pontifex , who is acting as a pawn of their Dean even if this is a well kept secret. The Pontifex would like to change that, and is moving their own pieces. In recent times, a group of untried neonates made a supposedly offensive remark about an Elder and a disproportionate punishment is on the way. Also, a group of newbie neonates totally failed on an important assignment and suitable scapegoats are being sought. Finally, one Guard of the Lasombra Justifier has unexpectedly disappeared leaving only puzzling clues behind and the local vampires seem a little worried about that.

Oklahoma City is ruled by a Ventrue Pontifex which only has drawn a series of red lines and not much more , so the Dean is taking advantage to extend their influence. Nevertheless, there are voices asking for the Pontifex to get more involved.. Recently, a preeminent (and vampire-related) local mortal family has been suffering a series of 'catastrophic misfortunes' which look quite suspect in their origin. Also, a veteran (and very unpleasant) criminal boss is demanding the Embrace as 'payment for services rendered', and the Pontifex seems willing to pass that hot potato to one of the local Elders. Finally, a Ventrue Elder has created some kind of personality cult among local students and the Pontifex finds it quite amusing but harmless.

Atlanta is ruled by a Lasombra Pontifex who seems little interested in power games , while the Prelature makes sure the city moves on. Suprisingly, the city is quite peacful despite all that!. Recently, a group of visiting vampires accidentally broke one of the lesser known local laws...a suspiciously timely law, by the way. Also, the Pontifex is looking for experts in modern economics to train their Chyldes...but the entrance exams for the position are being quite demanding. Finally, a newhorn neonate accidentaly stepped on the metaphorical toes of the Pontifex by damaging their properties, and is now in hiding.

Phoenix, the most important city of the Anarquist Movement, is unorganized calm place, with a Tzimisce leader at command and where vampires from the Ventrue have a suprising presence, some Tremere occasionally come to deal and negotiate with the local vampires and how the vampires should organize is frequently discussed. On the other hand, Las Vegas is a particularly chaotic place, with a group of Ravnos leaders at the top and where some Nosferatu seem to be acting out of sight of local vampires, the Camarilla of Nod is not taken seriously enough and Masquerade is quite often test to its limit. As a general rule, the Anarquist Movement is expandingits influence across the region, but mortal hunters with enough knowledge are taking advantage of their relative inexperience.

In a somewhat less optimistic context, Rochester is a city in big trouble, as it has experienced an internal conflict between the Lasombra Pontifex and a Gangrel adversary, being the later the final winner. The Prelature got badly fractured in the process and there are now vacant positions for the bold. The newcomers must prove they have no relationship with the loser before even enter the city. Meanwhile, Indianapolis is under a permanent siege by the Camarilla of Nod and many are abandoning ship before it's too late. Its Assamite Pontifex has been contemplating the exit door for a long time, and the newcomers come being aware of what they are going to find

Finally, there is the city of Denver: ruled by a Lasombra Pontifex for decades, it has been considered one of the most important cities of the Undeath Order, but its history is both epic and tragic. The present is marked by inexplicable murder of the actual Pontifex to the bewilderment of all and by the discovery of the location of Longinus' spear somewhere in the city; the future, by for an imminent and calamitous incursion of a mortal intelligence agency which will purge the ranks of the kindred , and which may suppose the end of the city’s chronicle.

The world

Beyond the USA limits, the Undeath Order has the traditional control of Australia and North Africa, mainly in the cities of Melbourne and Casablanca, and to a lesser degree in the cities of Adelaide and Tripoli. On the other hand, it has lost its impulse in Italy, but has still under control Bologna.

Casablanca is ruled by a Assamite Pontifex that only intervenes very occasionally , while the Dean do the real work. The city is quite troubled because all that, but nobody wants any changes. Recently, many mortals in the city are falling misteriously ill and it seems caused by an infected local vampire; a quarantine in some zones has been thus established. Also, a group of local neonate have been savagely murdered by a group of overzealous Bouncers and a reward has been offered for the capture of the culprit. Finally, an Elder's Childe has been hold against their will by some resourceful humans ...and although 'blackmail' is a very ugly word, all of that looked like blackmail.

Melbourne is governed by a Tzimisce Pontifex, whom no one dares to oppose. The Pontifex has put in charge their only rival as Dean ("...and keep your enemys closer"); meanwhile, there is no Prelature officially recognized, and many Elders feel bitter for that. In the past few nights, there has been an unusual presence of Nosferatu in the city and the Pontifex seems to be in talks with them; their original clan seems quite satisfied with the situation. Also, a well-known Ancillae has made a Chylde without permission; the Pontifex is using that to blackmail them. Finally, a local Malkavian Elder has shown quite an interest for a specific mortal as a potential ghoul...but that mortal seems strangely aware of the situation.

Adelaide is governed by a Assamite Pontifex , who is only a puppet of some unknown party and that's something that is not allowed to say out loud. The Pontifex graciously accepts it, while the kindred of the city shake their heads, disheartened. In recent times, a Ravnos seems to be recruiting a startling number of ghouls as if they is preparing for something. Also, one of the Sherriff's Bouncers lost an important item placed in their care and will stop at nothing to get it back. Finally, a strange visitor has been warning about the breaking of 'the Second Week of Nightmares', and quite a number omens are beginning to be seen...which is disturbing the peace in the city.

Tripoli is led by a Lasombra Pontifex , who rules with and iron fist. The Pontifex has appointed an old acquaintance as Dean, and they have served loyally; meanwhile, the Prelature is personally selected by the Pontifex, and it acts only as a show to the outside. Lately, a prominent figure in a local religious organization has unexpectedly been lost leaving behind signs of violence but nobody seems to being paying proper attention to that. Also, some Masquerade-threatening footage seems to have fallen into the wrong hands and the Pontifex is looking for those behind its recording. Finally, a forsaken ghoulh of a Gangrel Elder is said to be desperately seeking vampiric blood or will die in a few days...and is offering some interesting secrets as paying.

Lastly, Bologna is a peculiar city where the Pontifex is appointed by the votes of the Prelature for a 50 years term. The process it's surprisingly clean, and the current Pontifex is in the middle of the present term. In recent times, a Tzimisce Elder killed themself by reasons unknown, and now they properties (considerable) and contacts (plenty) are for grabs. Also, a well-known politician of the government party in the city been mercilessly slaughtered by a murder of the Camarilla of Nod and the Pontifex has promised a severe punishment to the guilty party. Finally, some dangerous rumor telling 'there is state of being called Golconda that allows to control your Beast' walks the streets, and the Pontifex is not amused at all.

The Book of the Camarilla of Nod

Fighting the Undeath Order, stands the organization known as the Camarilla of Nod, which does not respect the Masquerade and wants to face the Antediluvians. This organization is governed to a greater degree by its founders, the Toreador , which truly believe in the principles of the organization The Toreador, since the beginning, shared their power with the Brujah and continue to do so.

With respect to the antitribu, the Lasombra loathe what their counterparts in the Undeath Order have turned into...and yet the Ventrue seem to get along suspiciously well with their own antitribu. The Ravnos have evolved to a distorted version of their birth clan, and in turn, the Tzimisce have exagerated versions of the features of theirs. The Giovanni are among the most loyal defenders of the Camarilla of Nod possibly because partly they were the ones who instigated the Anarquist Movement, while the Assamite feel liberated from the restrictions of the Undeath Order. To finish, if the Gangrel have not been exterminated yet by their clan of origin, the later is already workint at it. Orphans are treated in the Camarilla of Nod as second class 'citizens', but it's still viewed as an improvement compared to the Undeath Order. But all that glitters is not gold, and there are Toreador who opt to be part of the Undeath Order because they consider this organization as the winning horse, and Brujah who ignore the Camarilla of Nod and prefer to rule their ancestral domains

Unlike the Undeath Order, the top ranks the Camarilla of Nod are organized in a military way, with a Major ruling each city, and the Elders forming the High command to act as counselors. Nevertheless, vampires in the Camarilla of Nod prefer to form small teams called murders, with a Alpha at command and a Preacher as spiritual guide. Finally, the Camarilla of Nod has a frightening army called the Secret Lance, which is the equivalent of an 'internal affairs department' and fights as the elite troop of the organization against its enemies

In the USA, the Camarilla of Nod struggles to keep the Midwest, with Detroit and Cincinnati acting as the hearth of the sect. About that, the city of Detroit is a falsely "tranquil" place with a sly Toreador Major commanding, where the High command act by mutual agreement and the Masquerade is as respected as in any given the Undeath Order's city. On the other hand, the city of Cincinnati is a wretched hive of scum and villainy ruled by a debauched Brujah Major, where the murders continually fight each other and infernalism is gaining followers almost out of control. Also, the Camarilla of Nod has its eyes on the Plains area, and has selected, as beachead, the cities of Omaha and Houston...and the Undeath Order has no clue about it.

In other part of the world, the Camarilla of Nod still has the power in West Europe, particularly in the cities of Munich and Lyon. Nevertheless, it was recently expelled from Brazil, but still has some hopes in in the city of Fortaleza. Also, the Camarilla of Nod and the Undeath Order are fighting the so called 'Supremacy War' in Russia, being Omsk and Yekaterinburg the main battlefields. The Supremacy War in Omsk, is based mainly on a combination of underhanded and direct strategies, with the Camarilla of Nod funding 'blood-cults' among the local mortals and breaking the Masquerade in blatant ways, while the Undeath Order takes the control of every aspect of the economy and calls the Justifiers help.. On the other hand, the Supremacy War in Yekaterinburg is based on underhanded tactics, with the Camarilla of Nod infiltrating the local organized crime and breaking the Masquerade in small but numerous ways, while the Undeath Order plays the murders against each other and feeds their foes with lots of false information. For now, the Camarilla of Nod is losing terrain in Omsk, and it is in a stalemate with its enemy in Yekaterinburg.

Tales of the Unaffiliated

Outside of the dispute between the Undeath Order and the Camarilla of Nod, there are those known as Unaffiliated, formed by the members of four clans.

This way, the Setite will kill whoever you tell them if you pay the price, but you will have to pay them in jewels and artworks; on the other hand, the first motive for their actions seems to be pure greed. Lately, the Undeath Order is trying to convince them to join, and the clan is being receptive. Meanwhile, the Setite pretend that their antitribu return to orthodoxy (with null success)...but they keep trying. Recently, the Setite have failed to kill the ruler of Memphis, and they have gracefully admitted defeat.

The Nosferatu constitute a tight family with an ancient military tradition, but they sometimes adopt promising strangers.Their home base is in a city in Greece, where the control everything from the shadows. At the present, the Undeath Order sees them with displeasure, and this can end in war. Meanwhile, the Nosferatu antitribu have put aside nearly all their norms, and they are seen as bumbling fools to be ignored. Recently, some Nosferatu seem to be trying to spread to another city in Greece, and this 'new branch' is proving somewhat unruly.

The Malkavian want to awaken their dark god to drown the world in blood. This resurrection requires some lost magical ritual, but their plans have hit some kind of a wall. For now, the Undeath Order doesn't touch them even with a 10-foot pole, and it will severely punish whoever does it. Meanwhile, the Malkavian see their antitribu in the Camarilla of Nod as heretics even though their traditions are a little similar, so they usually find some common ground. Recently, the clan has recently spied the Giovanni clan, as it has been revealed that they know too much and should be silenced.

Lastly, the Tremere rarely stop in the same place for long, and they are received as usefull messangers and freelancers. The real motive of their travels is that they eternally watching the other clans. Until now, the Undeath Order has not included them in its plans, but the clan wants to change that...for better or worse. Meanwhile, the Tremere practically never are part of the Camarilla of Nod, and the main clan hunts those few dissidents whithout mercy. Recently, the Tremere have inflitrated in Phoenix, but they have not catch anyone's attention for now.
