A(nother) dialogue & social interaction tool for solo-roleplaying

KEEP TALKING!  (the oh-so-imaginatively-named evolution of the LET'S TALK and KEEPING CONTACT solo-rpg tools) will let you manage dialogues and social relationships in your solo games. And you only need one thing: this document. And a D10  die. Two things! This document and a D10 die. And five printed cards. Three things! This document, a D10 die and five printed cards. And a an almost fanatical devotion to the Po...no, wait, I think I went off of the rails.

Anyway. In KEEP TALKING!, you'll find:

- A Dialogue System inspired by dialogue-trees from videogames.

- Four different Dialogue types, each one with different available goals: ask for help, start romances, defend your convictions, or just chit-chat with a friend, among others!

- Five different approaches for each Dialogue type, each one with five different potential reactions from NPCs.

- NPC Traits (Role/Attitude/Mood/Memories) that describe your relationship with NPCs, both long-term and short term.

(Just in case you missed the previous two. Again, I'm not judging)

ERRATA

(Please, don't judge me!)

Dialogue Resolution: The correct modifiers for NPC Mood are Good +1, Neutral +0, Bad -1, for both standard and quick Dialogues.
'Get away with it' Goal: The outcomes for this Goal are missing. Here they are, thus:
9+: You get away with it, without any repercussions!
5 - 8: Choose one: You are found guilty but with mitigating circumstances, OR you are officially found not guilty but your reputation is still tarnished because there're still some doubts.
4 -: You're found guilty, no excuses.

>>It’s Monday morning.

 >>Today’s classes will start soon.

 >>You are now at the main gate of your High School.

 >>What do you do?

DOKOSOKO HIGHSCHOOL is a tabletop solo-RPG engine that lets you play Visual Novel style games. In its core manual, you'll find...

  • A default setting with 12 pre.-made NPCs, and both city and school maps. Sorta. Kinda.
  • Rules for playing the game based on eleven commands: MOVE, TALK, EXAMINE, REST, ACTION, CHALLENGE, INVOKE, TAGGING, REACT, UPDATE and ENDURE.
  • Social rules that let you turn Strangers into Acquaintances, forge Bonds, engage in Rivalries, start Romances, and more.
  • Dialogue rules covering heated arguments, polite conversations, friendly talks and intimate moments.
  • A Resources Appendix document with tables, rules summaries, sheets and cards.

But that's not all, because in addition of the core game, you can also get the following DLCs (fear not, they're as free as the game itself)
  • VANILLA+ MODE: new NPC roles, rules for creating them (nope, those rules were NOT in the core manual), and more!
  • CLIQUES&COMRADES: rules for managing NPC-NPC relationships and Factions!

STILL-TO-BE-INCLUDED ERRATA

Core & Resources Appendix
  • When creating the protagonist, you assign four positive tags instead of just three.
  • Dialogue resolution: the correct modifiers for NPC Mood (for both standard and quick dialogues) are +1 for Good Mood, +0 for Neutral Mood and -1 for Bad Mood.
  • The 'Special' section of the Deal? goal should be changed to "You can’t select this Goal with an NPC with the ‘Deal’ OR ‘Debt’ boxes checked.' I.e., it doesn't matter if the NPC has the 'Helped' box checked.
Vanilla +
  • It's not stated, but you can add Tags to NPCs until they have as many as a protagonist (i.e., four positive and two negative).

UPDATES STORY

Core & Resources Appendix

0.011

  • The missing ‘Nice to meet you!’ Goal has been included; now, you can play a game where you’re not forced to be a jerk with any NPC you meet for the first time (not saying that kind of game couldn’t be fun, but that’s not the point!).
  • A discussion about how to execute the INVOKE command against the NPC who’s being invoked has been included.

Vanilla +

  • All mentions to the non-existent 'Would you kindly?' Goal have been removed. That should have been read as the 'Deal?' one, instead. Yes, I had been playing Bioshock while writing the first version of this Add-on, how did you guess?
