'Vampire, the Masquerade - 20th Anniversary' Setting Generator

This is the homepage of the 'Vampire, the Masquerade 20th anniversary' Setting Generator, a (mega)table for the free program Inspiration Pad Pro that creates a new setting for this game with only one click. This generator was revealed for the first time in this rpg.net thread...and as can be seen, it has evolved into a quite wall-a-text-creator. In this page, you will find a link for the most up-to-date version, examples settings created with it and a repository of links for the older versions. Ah, yes...and some instrucctions to install and run the thing (don't worry, it's quite easy).

Vampire, the Masquerade - Setting Generator 11.05 "The plot thickens...even more!" Edition

Example (Most classical mode)

Example (Most wild mode)

Description

This generator takes the offical setting of 'Vampire, the Masquerade' and gives it a twist. And then another twist. And then a hundred more. So, the membership of each faction (and their names, by the way), the names of the different positions of power, the geopolitical aspects of the vampiric population, etc., are all randomly generated. This way, in the Camarilla (or whatever it is called in a given moment), there will be one clan at the top, another one supporting it, another one wishing to take the power, another one always protesting, another one staying on the sidelines, another one that nobody understands and another one about to leave...but the heads under all these hats
will be different from the usual. Also, the generator will create the description of some cities, explaining its current situation and offering a series of plot-seeds.

Currently, the generator has tre selectable options:

Clans

  • Classical: This mode uses the tradicional clan names, and it is assumed that their rules traits (disciplines, weakness, etc.) do not vary: only their history and their role in the setting.
  • Semi Classical: This  mode uses the traditional clan names, but their disciplines and weakness are also randomized.
  • New: This mode does not even use the traditional names for clans; instead, it uses names taken from a list of names that have been used to refer to vampires (or 'vampiric creatures', at least) around the world  .

Regions

  • Classical: Only a fraction of the world is taking into account. Combined with 'New Clans', only vampires from Africa, Europe and as far as India will appear.
  • World: The full world is for grabs! Combined with 'New Clans', vampires from every corner of the world may end appearing!

Disciplines

This parameter only has effect with Semi-classical Clans or New Clans modes.

  • Basic: Only the disciplines in the V20 manual are taking into account.
  • Expanded: Some 'deprecated' disciplines (as Kai, Deimos and the like) will appear here and there.
  • Alternative: The clans wil receive four disciplines from Vampire, the Requiem (one 'clan', one 'bloodline' and two 'commons' disciplines) instead of three from Vampire, the Masquerade.
  • Mixed: Each clan receives three disciplines from the Expanded list, plus a 'bloodline' discipline from Vampire, the Requiem!

Every now and then, some typos and grammatical errors will appear. The former, sometimes, will be due to the way in which the text is generated (joining pieces that, sometimes, do not fit properly), but in others it will simply be due to mistakes on my part. If you take a look at everything that surrounds this page, you will deduce that English is not my first language...hence all those mistakes.

Instructions

1. Download and install the Inspiration Pad Pro from this link. You can make a portable installation, if you want.

2. Download the most current version of the generator from the link above.

3. Unzip (or, in this case, unrar) the .ipt file in the Generators folder of Inspiration Pad Pro.

4. Run Inspiration Pad Pro. The generator should appear on the list on the left. Don't click on it, yet: first, change that default '25' value on top of the generators list to '1'...

5. Select a mode for Clans, Regions and Disciplines (or keep the defaults, if you want) from the dropdown menus at the bottom-left (the default is Classical in both cases)...and then, click Go!.

6. And that's it!  You may copy & paste the result to your word processor, if you want.
